1- The Return of Home Office

Back in the 90s, a lot of people had a computer room in their place, maybe not exactly a computer room, but a space that could be used as an office. Since we started using smartphones, this kind of room wasn’t necessary anymore. However, especially after the pandemic and social isolation, we have now this new hybrid workplace that is becoming more and more popular for many people all over the World. Some people came up with temporary solutions, like working at the dining table or sitting on their couches, but that’s not the best way to work from home.

“We need permanent places to do our work rather than sort of feed on the coffee table, sitting on the couch…” Says Nick Lewis. Your backs will thank you later.

The trend is about having a specific space at home as your office, it doesn’t really need to be another room, it just needs to accommodate you well enough so you can do your job nicely and comfortably. Like having ergonomic chairs that look elegant and attractive, or nice and stylish desks… everything for you to have a nice and elegant office in your own place.

Bonus Trend: Multifunctional Spaces

It’s the use of an existing space in your apartment or house as a dividing section, like having a living room/dining room, or a dining room/office. It’s ideal for those who live in small places and want to enjoy all the spaces of their home.

“They’re able to incorporate a beautiful desk, beautiful chairs, and just sort of a really beautiful space that you’re also able to integrate into the rest of your living area,” says Nick.

2- Green Decor

Maybe you have already noticed that several shades of the color green are trending now. We see them in clothing, in make-up, and even in smartphones. Now, let’s see how this beautiful color works in interior design. There’s a video where Nick Lewis talks about the trending colors in 2022 and, of course, there are a lot of shades of green.

In this video, Nick Lewis talks about the colors that are going to be trending in 2022. Check it out and discover more types of green that have been becoming increasingly popular right now: 2022 COLOR TRENDS | Colors of the Year REVEALED!

Nick says he thinks the reason why green is trending now is the need to bring more of a natural element into the home. This isn’t a new trend, this trend has been happening for many years, bringing plants, stones, and wood to the living space.

3- Fabulous Walls

After years and years of having Minimalism as the dominant trend, we are now going to see some radical changes in interior design. Usually, the walls are all plain white so we can add some furniture, frames, posters or else. Of course, that works and can make your place looks amazing and elegant, but the trend now is to go crazier than this.

As people are kind of tired of the Minimalism aesthetic, this wall design has been taking off lately. Fabulous walls, as Nick calls them, can turn the space beautiful and creative, not at all subtle. “This is sort of a long-term trend that I think we’re going to continue to see grow,” says Nick.

4- Statement Marbles

You might be familiar with the white clean marble stone that has been trending for many years in interior design. Nick says this is a timeless trend, it just works really well and looks amazing. But the charm of statement marble is having great colors, contrast, and movement on the stone.

5- Art Deco

Oh, the 20s! But wait, which 20s?

Art Deco, this timeless, fabulous trend is coming back in 2022, bringing an elegant vintage look with strong colors matching with metal shades. This aesthetic is being reinvented, coming in more simple and subtle ways, taking over home decor all over the world.

This amazingly fancy design will bring the dramatic look you need to your place. “Art Deco tends to really work in commercial spaces”, says Nick, “but we’re still seeing it in residential as well (…) in very subtle ways.”

Restaurants and bars are betting on Art Deco, especially because this aesthetic can make any place trendy. For homes, this also works well, because you can choose to go subtle (having a chair, or posters and frames that are in the style of Art Decor) or to go fabulous (like having Art Deco all over your living space).

Nick Lewis loves this interior design trend and so do we! A very elegant way to remember the 1920s without being called grandma.

6- Antique and Vintage Decor

Different than having an outdated aesthetic, ok? It’s all about knowing what items are still fire and are considered vintage, not old.
