There are so many things to consider like the texture, intensity of flavor, fruitiness in the cheese, and of course when to add it. 1- Pinot Noir and Gruyere

Wine and cheese pairing with Pinot Noir and Gruyere is always a great idea. There’s an aromatic, bold, hearty flavor coupled with the smoothness of the wine. And even though it’s a perfect combination for a warm evening, this pairing holds up well in winter too.

2- Sauvignon Blanc and Goat Cheese

Often, when we think of pairing wine with cheese, we think of strong red wine and a slice of hard cheese. However, white wine and soft goat cheese can be a perfect match as well. Some of the flavors that this pairing brings out include: citrus, nutty, herbaceous, grassy, mineral, and herbal.

3- Sauternes and Roquefort

Sauternes brings out the best in Roquefort! French often serve them together, especially in the Sauternes region itself. The combination of Sauternes acidity and pungent Roquefort is especially delicious if you’re using older Roquefort.

4- Malbec and Edam

Edam’s nuttiness really comes through in this wine. It’s full-bodied with a smooth finish and makes for a hard cheese to forget about. When you’re looking for good wine and cheese pairings, remember this one – the nutty flavors of Edam will carry through in the wine and pair beautifully with Malbec’s bolder fruit flavors.

5- Pinot Grigio and Fresh Mozzarella di Bufala

A cheese that is mild in flavor but rich in texture like Mozzarella di Bufala goes super well together with a dry style of white wine like Pinot Grigio. The creaminess of the cheese and the grassy flavors of the wine together are a perfect balance.

6- Cabernet Sauvignon and Aged Cheddar

This match is a classic. The tangy cheesiness of a creamy Aged Cheddar will blend beautifully with a rich, tannic Cabernet Sauvignon. Very balanced pairing!

7- Moscato and Pepper Jack

The salty flavor of cheese goes really well with a sweet wine. In the case of Pepper Jack, the sweetness from the Moscato helps to soften and balance the spicy pepper flavor. Great and very bold pairing.
