Interior design is constantly changing, and it’s hard to keep up with all the new decor trends.
But hard doesn’t mean impossible, so we’re here to help through the new trends that are coming! We’ve got your back with our list of interior design trends that are sure to be popular in 2023.
These trends run the gamut from fresh color palettes to new patterns and furniture styles, so you’re sure to find something that suits your tastes and your home’s personality
Ready to get inspired? Let’s go!
Decor Trend #1: Art Deco
If you’re a fan of Art Deco interior design, you’re lucky: the style is coming back – and who doesn’t like a good coming back?
Mainly in the 1920s and 1930s, art deco was characterized by its technical precision and geometric shapes. Today’s iteration of this style is marked by its bold use of color and elaborate detailing – think lots of texture and pattern!
The only-used minimalism is fading away, and people are looking for more decorative styles in their space. This has led to a renewed interest in the brighter colors and geometric patterns of Art Deco. Even if you’re still attached to minimalism, you can start adding one little detail that will keep you updated on this trend.
While hyper-maximalism might not be in the scene (yet), we see many bold details coming into interior design trends. Expect to see these elements like symmetry, geometric patterns, and bright color palettes taking over!
Decor Trend #2: Return To Noir
Gothic is back, and it’s better than ever. We all have a little bit of goth in us.
It’s not just a style, it’s a way of life: dark, dramatic, and a little bit mysterious. Gothic design is one of the most romanticized styles out there. It’s not just about a deep love for black, but also about embracing the darkness that comes with life—the good and the bad.
It’s dark and mysterious, but it’s also rich with layers and fascinating details.
The gothic style can be used to create more than just a dark room. It can be used to bring in sweeping curtains, arch mirrors, sculptures, and lavish chandeliers as well.
We’ve seen a resurgence of the dramatic gothic style in recent years (and it’s coming fearless in 2023), and it makes perfect sense—after all, the dark hues and dramatic shapes of this design aesthetic are almost irresistible. But what many people don’t realize is that there’s more to Gothic design than just dark colors. In fact, if you look closely, you’ll see that the way we use light plays an important role in creating the mood of a space.
Decor Trend #3: Coffee Maker As A Decor Item
Coffee is the lifeblood of the world.
I don’t know about you, but I can only start my day in the morning after a good cup of coffee.
It’s what keeps us going when we need it most, and I’m sure we can all agree that coffee tastes better when you make it yourself.
If you don’t have time to make your own coffee at home, you must opt to go to a coffee bar. However, if you’re into making your coffee at home you must think about having a space for it.
So why not set up your own personal coffee bar?
When you’re decorating your coffee station, the first thing to consider is whether you have space for a coffeemaker. You’ll also want to keep in mind other things like mugs, sugar, and—of course—coffee!
Once you’ve decided on where to set up your coffee station and what items will be required for its operation (and enjoyment), all that’s left to do is choose what kind of theme or aesthetic style you’d like for it. Do you want something modern? Traditional? Rustic? The options are endless!
Just be careful to not turn your coffee place into a separate part of your style, or just throw a coffee machine over your kitchen counter.
Decor Trend #4: Turquoise-like Hues
Tranquil Blue is the new turquoise!
If you’re looking to add a pop of color, but don’t want to go overboard with your decor, consider using a turquoise hue. If you want to take it up a notch, try painting your walls with it. You can also use this color in art pieces or other decorative items around the room to add another dimension to your space
Turquoise is a color that can be both bright and subtle. One of the most common misconceptions about turquoise is that it needs to be bright in order to pop into a space. A good rule of thumb is that if you have a neutral background behind the area where you’ll be using a strong color like turquoise, then it’s likely going to stand out more than it would against a brighter backdrop. In other words: light aqua can offer equally compelling contrast as dark turquoise when used right!
The turquoise trend has been making its way into interior design for a while now, but studies show that it will be replaced by a new blue in 2023. Tranquil Blue is a cool-toned hue that provides a soothing feel to any space. It’s great for spaces of serenity and calm like meditation rooms, home offices, and studies.
Decor Trend #5: Digital Lavender
If you’ve been paying attention to the decoration world, you’ve probably noticed the new color that’s been popping up all over the place. Digital Lavender is a light shade of violet that communicates two sets of emotions: cheerfulness and calmness.
Digital lavender is a versatile coloring that is relatively easy to combine with other shades. You can use it in decoration, it can be applied from coatings to wall paintings, furniture, and decorative items.
- 1. Add a little color to your life with a digital lavender chair.
- 2. A digital lavender wall hanging will add just the right amount of vibrancy to your space.
- 3. Create a room full of color with digital lavender curtains and pillow covers!
- 4. Brighten up a dull corner with a digital lavender lampshade!
- 5. Create an accent wall with beautiful digital lavender paint!
- 6. Take your space from drab to fab with a bold digital print wallpaper!
Decor Trend #6: Double Island
Dining and entertaining are important parts of the modern lifestyle and having a kitchen island is the perfect solution for creating a space that can serve all of your needs.
If you are looking to add some extra space to your kitchen but don’t want to lose the cozy feel, try adding a double island. You can get more storage, a second sink, a built-in cooktop/range, or breakfast bar-style eat-in dining.
Double islands are also great for getting additional counter space and storage. Here you will find pictures of beautiful kitchen island ideas and plans you can use for your own layouts and remodel projects.
With two sinks, you’ll never have to worry about washing dishes while trying to cook dinner. You can also keep one side clean for eating and the other side available for cooking.
You can even add a microwave on one side and a dishwasher on the other, so you don’t have to waste time moving things around when you’re doing different tasks.
It’s practical and will make your life easier.
Decor Trend #7: Heritage Tiles
if you’re looking for something that’s going to make you feel like you’re stepping onto a Mediterranean island every time you step out of the shower, this trend comes again to please you.
They can be both striking and practical. Something that will help you bring your interior design ideas to life in an affordable and easy-to-install way.
They can be terracotta tiles, block colors and hexagons, Moroccan style, and so on. There are many styles and different patterns you can incorporate into your design
Just be careful about choosing your tiles, because you can give your room a fresh and modern aesthetic, but also you have the risk to turn it into a dated and corny 1950s style.
The idea here is to use references and make them fresh and new!
